Job summary

icon Mechanical is seeking a Traveling Project Director to lead our National Project Management team on projects across the United States. The ideal candidate will have 12+ years as a Senior Mechanical Project Manager or a related role, with energy, leadership, and a proven track record managing large-scale mechanical construction efforts.

The role requires onsite leadership, extensive travel, and collaboration with owners, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors to achieve project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or construction management required.
• Minimum 12+ years as a Project Manager in mechanical construction or 5 years managing $100M mechanical projects.
• Strong knowledge of ASME piping codes and SMACNA construction standards.
• Experience with estimating and change orders; capable of resource-loaded schedules.

Responsibilities

• Monitor projects and report financials to executives.
• Develop and maintain client/vendor/subcontractor relationships.
• Review schedule indicators and labor productivity.
• Lead teams on HVAC, piping, and mechanical systems from start to finish.
• Ensure safety and quality compliance on site.
• Coordinate with design/engineering for project plans.
• Review construction documents and guide PM team.
• Schedule internal/external project meetings.
• Develop advanced schedules for contracted scope.
• Coach and mentor team members; support strategic planning.
• Collaborate with leaders to plan workforce needs.
