Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory seeks a Chief AI Architect to serve as an embedded technical authority at a Department of War sponsor location in the Washington, DC area. You will design enterprise AI architectures, review strategies and vendors, and lead AI governance across the sponsor organization.

You will collaborate with academia, industry, government, and other DOE National Laboratories to position PNNL at the forefront of AI innovation for defense missions.

Qualifications

• PhD or 5+ years of Software Engineering experience (or alternative combinations) as listed in qualifications.
• Proven experience advising senior government or defense stakeholders on AI strategy, tech evaluation, and vendor selection.

Responsibilities

• Architect AI solutions and enterprise-scale AI architectures tailored to sponsor needs.
• Advise sponsor as embedded expert on AI architecture and implementation.
• Evaluate AI technologies and vendors with objective assessments.
• Devise, implement, and oversee AI strategies aligned to mission priorities.
• Guide investments and influence long-term AI agendas.
• Engage senior leaders with expert advice and presentations.
• Understand sponsor mission and leverage AI to enhance capabilities.
