Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks a Software Engineer to join the AI and Data Analytics team within the National Security Directorate. You will design, build, and optimize scalable systems for processing multi-modal intelligence data, implement AI-enabled software, and contribute to enterprise data platforms.

This role emphasizes mentorship, code reviews, and collaboration with scientists to deploy production systems that support national security mission objectives.

Qualifications

PhD or MS/MA or BS/BA with 2 years software engineering experience.
Hands-on Python development experience.
Experience or strong foundation in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and Agile/Scrum practices.
Experience with data processing, ETL, or large-scale data systems.
Familiarity with AI coding tools and ML workflow concepts.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and optimize scalable systems for processing multi-modal intelligence data at scale.
Contribute to mission-focused AI/ML engineering and data orchestration in production environments.
Collaborate with researchers and engineers to deliver enterprise-grade software for national security applications.
