Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory seeks a Lead DevOps/Platform Engineer to architect and deliver cloud-native AI platforms, large-scale data pipelines, and scalable infrastructure for national security missions. You will guide architectural decisions, mentor teammates, and shape the technical direction across multiple teams.

Based in Seattle or Richland, the role requires onsite work Monday through Thursday with some business-driven Friday requirements.

Qualifications

• PhD with 3+ years software engineering experience or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
• Hands-on Python development experience required.
• Strong foundation in software design, architecture, and deployment for scientific or data-centric applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of cloud-native AI platforms and large-scale data pipelines.
• Architect and guide CI/CD, containerized infrastructure, and testing practices.
• Mentor and develop software engineers, researchers, and data scientists across multiple teams.
• Drive performance, observability, security, and reliability in production environments.
