Job summary

Compassion & Choices seeks a Principal Director, Program Development to lead national end-of-life program design, implementation, and growth. The role embeds patient-directed care into strategy and scales programs across jurisdictions, strengthening partnerships and resources.

You will guide governance, outcomes, and sustainable funding with senior leadership. The position offers full-time, remote work with a strong benefits package, travel as needed, and opportunities to influence policy,

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in public health or related field is required or equivalent experience.
• Masters degree preferred, with strong leadership and strategy experience.
• At least 10 years designing, implementing, scaling, and evaluating programs.
• Experience leading systems-change initiatives and cross-functional teams.
• Proven ability to build partnerships with providers, funders, and government entities.
• Experience in end-of-life care, serious illness, or patient advocacy is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, evaluation, and growth of national end-of-life programs.
• Embed patient-directed care values and autonomy across program strategy and delivery.
• Develop integrated program strategies, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes.
• Build partnerships, governance structures, and funding opportunities for sustainability.
• Provide coaching and strategic direction to cross-functional teams and partners.
• Represent the organization at conferences, coalitions, and external forums.
