Job summary

Society of St. Vincent de Paul USA - Maryland Heights, MO is seeking a Chief Philanthropy Officer to lead a national fundraising program spanning major gifts, annual giving, foundations, and donor stewardship.

The CPO will align revenue strategy with mission impact and oversee a skilled philanthropy team. The role requires a proven track record in securing major gifts, building infrastructure, and managing remote teams, with a deep commitment to Catholic social teaching and national fundraising

Qualifications

• At least 8-10 years of senior fundraising experience, ideally leading a comprehensive philanthropy program for a large nonprofit.
• Demonstrated record of securing major and principal gifts, foundation and corporate support; experience with planned giving is preferred.
• Experience building fundraising infrastructure, portfolio management, prospect research, stewardship, and performance accountability.
• Frontline fundraiser with comfort in engaging high-net-worth donors and securing unrestricted support.
• Proven leader who can manage remote teams across regions and build cross-functional partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive national philanthropy strategy across all giving channels.
• Advise the CEO on philanthropy strategy, donor engagement, priorities, campaign readiness, and revenue growth.
• Lead and develop the philanthropy team, including regional Directors of Philanthropy and senior fundraising staff.
• Personally manage major and principal gift donors in partnership with the CEO and staff.
• Oversee fundraising technology, donor data, reporting, and moves management.
• Set and monitor annual fundraising goals, budgets, revenue forecasts, pipeline activity, and donor retention metrics.
• Guide donor communications, cases for support, proposals, and stewardship materials in collaboration with National Communications.
