Job summary

Scale Microgrids, headquartered in Ridgewood, New Jersey, is seeking an experienced Inventory Manager to own our centralized inventory program for a nationwide portfolio of operating energy assets. You will build systems and controls to ensure critical materials are available and asset downtime is minimized.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Procurement, you will forecast requirements, manage replenishment, and drive KPI-based improvements across sites, warehouses, and third-party storage

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years in inventory or materials management, preferably for distributed field operations.
• Experience owning inventory controls: SKUs, stocking policies, min/max levels, reorder points.
• Hands-on with ERP/CMMS or asset-management systems; translate operational needs into scalable structures.
• Strong Excel skills; proven inventory KPIs and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Own inventory management across Scale's nationwide portfolio of operating assets, project sites, warehouses, and third-party storage locations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain a centralized inventory database and tracking system with visibility into quantity, location, status, ownership, availability, and movement.
• Establish and maintain inventory control standards, including item master structure, stocking policies, min/max levels, reorder points, safety stock, and critical-spares requirements.
• Partner with Operations & Maintenance and technical teams to forecast spare-part and replacement-equipment requirements based on installed base, PM schedules, failure history, and vendor lead times.
• Manage replenishment and purchasing of spare parts and replacement equipment, including urgent and emergency requirements, to minimize asset downtime.
• Maintain traceability of serialized and high-value equipment and inventory transfers between sites and warehouses.
• Establish cycle-counting and physical-inventory procedures; investigate and reconcile discrepancies, maintaining high accuracy.
• Monitor obsolete, excess, slow-moving, and unavailable inventory and advise on disposition or redeployment.
• Manage day-to-day inventory relationships with manufacturers, distributors, warehouses, and 3PLs.
• Develop and maintain inventory KPIs and reporting (inventory accuracy, stockouts, replenishment lead time, etc.).
• Lead continuous improvement of inventory systems and processes, including ERP integration with asset-management and purchasing workflows.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Operations & Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, and project teams to ensure inventory supports reliable operations.
