Job summary

The American Heart Association seeks a National Director, Program Development in Health Science to lead multi-site funded initiatives, align with organizational goals, and manage budgets, timelines, and deliverables. This is a full-time, grant-funded role with current funding through 7/31/2029 and potential extension.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Business Nonprofit Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3 years of experience in healthcare programs or project management.
• 3 years of direct people leadership experience.
• Experience with quality improvement frameworks and outcome reporting.
• Experience with grant proposal development and program design.
• Ability to travel up to 25% locally and overnight.

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation of funded initiatives across planning, execution, and evaluation.
• Manage program consultants, managers, and coordinators for milestones and deliverables.
• Contribute to proposals with senior director on design, timelines, staffing, budgets.
• Supervise budgets and contracts with strategic guidance on expenditures.
• Apply Quality Improvement Frameworks to improve site outcomes.
• Facilitate communication with internal departments, partners, and funders.
• Ensure timely reporting of outcomes and challenges.
• Guide dissemination efforts with marketing for presentations, abstracts, toolkits, webinars.
• Provide training and coaching to project staff on implementation best practices.
