Position Summary

The National Account Manager (NAM) will position MSC solutions as strategic advantages for customers, maximizing account penetration of the total available market. Key skills include articulating business drivers, understanding financial statements, and expanding executive relationships. The role requires excellent communication, collaboration, strategic planning, negotiation, and listening skills. The NAM will build and execute strategic account plans by collaborating across the organization.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Achieve revenue and gross margin growth targets by penetrating large accounts with annual revenue exceeding $2 million.
  • Act as the liaison between assigned National Accounts and MSC, delivering value and innovation through solution design and implementation, managing portfolios worth $10 million to $25 million.
  • Develop relationships at the executive level, understanding the customer’s industry and trends.
  • Build internal relationships within MSC to leverage solutions and capabilities.
  • Create and execute strategic account plans in collaboration with various teams.
  • Follow MSC’s sales process and document in CRM.
  • Negotiate and renew large contracts proactively.
  • Forecast performance with detailed financial models and communicate expectations to leadership.
  • Maintain and renew accounts proactively, renegotiate underperforming contracts, and manage contract performance.
  • Set clear objectives for each site, track progress, and coach teams to achieve goals.
  • Coordinate with local managers to support customer initiatives, align resources, and communicate plans and performance.
  • Deliver financial sales presentations and proposals aligned with customer objectives.
  • Conduct regular business reviews and support customer cost reduction efforts.
  • Maintain relationships with various internal support teams and participate in networking events.
  • Complete professional development and foster MSC’s culture.
  • Support new initiatives, solve problems proactively, and participate in special projects.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of industrial/distribution sales experience with direct account responsibility.
  • Experience cultivating relationships with customer executives.
Skills
  • Experience with large account sales, negotiation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret customer financial statements and customize financial presentations.
  • Strong relationship-building, sales, negotiation, and team skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, CRM (SFDC), and e-business platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Competitive spirit, adaptability, and success in cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to develop multiyear financial strategies.
MISCELLANEOUS
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 75%.
  • Potential access to ITAR and CUI information.

Salary range: $84,280 - $132,440+, depending on experience and market factors.
