Job summary

SpecialtyRx, Inc. is a Long-Term Care pharmacy servicing facilities and assisted living communities. We seek a Texas-licensed Pharmacist to oversee narcotic distribution and ensure safe, compliant operations.

The role calls for strong analytical and communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and solid organizational abilities. Mid-shift with rotating weekends/holidays; benefits include health, dental, vision, 401K, PTO and EAP.

Qualifications

  • Texas license as Pharmacist required.
  • Long Term Care experience preferred.
  • Experience in hospital or retail pharmacy or related fields.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Computer skills; ECM software knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the safe and accurate distribution of narcotic medications to facilities.
  • Manage workflow with the Pharmacist In Charge.
  • Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness, dosage, interactions and proper administration.
  • Supervise dispensed medicines for correct supply and labeling.
  • Maintain narcotics inventory control systems and tracking.
  • Oversee ordering of controlled substances.
  • Educate, train and document training for technicians in the control room.
  • Ensure security features of the control room are adhered to and updated.
  • Report controlled substance theft/loss or discrepancies to regulators and management.
  • Conduct audits of narcotic inventory and implement corrective actions.
  • Investigate and resolve medication-related queries.
  • Maintain customer databases with medical history and labs.
  • Communicate with nursing staff, physicians and healthcare team regarding queries.
  • Create department schedule and ensure shift coverage; perform on-call duties.
  • Complete any tasks assigned by the Pharmacist In Charge.

SpecialtyRx is a Long-Term Care pharmacy providing pharmaceutical services to long term care facilities and assisted living communities. SpecialtyRx takes pride in delivering personalized care and quality pharmacy services.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the safe and accurate distribution narcotic medications to facilities.
  • Manage workflow responsibilities with the Pharmacist In Charge.
  • Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions and proper administration.
  • Supervise dispensed medicines are correctly supplied and labeled.
  • Maintain inventory control systems for narcotics, to ensure all controlled substances are tracked, accounted for and stored appropriately.
  • Oversee the ordering of controlled substances.
  • Educate, train and document training for all technicians authorized to work in the control room.
  • Ensure security features of the control room are being adhered to and make changes, as needed.
  • Reporting of all controlled substance theft/loss or major discrepancies to appropriate regulatory authorities and internal management (PIC, Compliance Offer, HR, Operations, etc.)
  • Conduct regular audits of narcotic inventory to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions, as needed.
  • Investigate and resolve medication-related queries.
  • Maintain customer's database to include medical history, clinical, laboratory data, etc.
  • Communicate with facilities' nursing staff, physicians and other healthcare team members regarding medication-related queries.
  • Responsible for creating the schedule for department, and ensuring proper shift coverage.
  • Perform "on-call" duties when required.
  • Complete any task assigned by the Pharmacist In Charge.
Qualifications:
  • Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Texas required.
  • Long Term Care experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in Hospital and Retail pharmacy or other medical fields.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Framework / ECM software knowledge a plus.
