Job summary

SpecialtyRx, Inc. is a Long-Term Care pharmacy providing pharmaceutical services to long-term care facilities and assisted living communities. We seek a licensed Texas pharmacist to oversee narcotics distribution and department operations.

You will coordinate with the Pharmacist In Charge, evaluate orders for safety and efficacy, supervise labeling and dispensing, and manage inventory controls for controlled substances. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Licensed Pharmacist in Texas required.
• Long-Term Care experience preferred.
• Experience in hospital or retail/pharmacy settings desirable.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Computer skills; knowledge of Pharmacy software a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe and accurate distribution of narcotic medications to facilities.
• Coordinate workflow with Pharmacist In Charge.
• Evaluate medication orders for drug appropriateness, dosage, interactions, and administration.
• Supervise labeling and dispensing processes.
• Maintain inventory control for narcotics and track controlled substances.
• Oversee ordering of controlled substances.
• Educate and document training for technicians in the control room.
• Ensure security of the control room and conduct regular audits.
• Report discrepancies or theft to management and authorities as required.
• Investigate medication-related queries and coordinate with nursing staff, physicians, and team members.
• Create and manage department schedules and shift coverage.
• Perform on-call duties as required.
• Complete tasks assigned by the Pharmacist In Charge.

Job description

SpecialtyRx is a Long-Term Care pharmacy providing pharmaceutical services to long term care facilities and assisted living communities. SpecialtyRx takes pride in delivering personalized care and quality pharmacy services.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the safe and accurate distribution narcotic medications to facilities.
• Manage workflow responsibilities with the Pharmacist In Charge.
• Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions and proper administration.
• Supervise dispensed medicines are correctly supplied and labeled.
• Maintain inventory control systems for narcotics, to ensure all controlled substances are tracked, accounted for and stored appropriately.
• Oversee the ordering of controlled substances.
• Educate, train and document training for all technicians authorized to work in the control room.
• Ensure security features of the control room are being adhered to and make changes, as needed.
• Reporting of all controlled substance theft/loss or major discrepancies to appropriate regulatory authorities and internal management (PIC, Compliance Offer, HR, Operations, etc.)
• Conduct regular audits of narcotic inventory to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions, as needed.
• Investigate and resolve medication-related queries.
• Maintain customer's database to include medical history, clinical, laboratory data, etc.
• Communicate with facilities' nursing staff, physicians and other healthcare team members regarding medication-related queries.
• Responsible for creating the schedule for department, and ensuring proper shift coverage.
• Perform "on-call" duties when required.
• Complete any task assigned by the Pharmacist In Charge.

Qualifications

• Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Texas required.
• Long Term Care experience preferred.
• Previous experience in Hospital and Retail pharmacy or other medical fields.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

• Computer skills.
• Framework / ECM software knowledge a plus.
