Job summary

AtlasBase in South San Francisco is seeking a Research Associate, Technology Development to perform characterization of nanoelectronic semiconductor devices across their lifecycle using AFM, SEM, TEM, XPS, FTIR, and TOF-SIMS.

You will work with vendors and fabrication partners, prepare reports, and contribute to quality control and test-learning cycles in a highly interdisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Materials Science, Nanotechnology or a closely related field with >0-3 years of relevant industry experience.
• Some experience using advanced metrology techniques such as AFM, SEM, TEM, XPS, FTIR, or TOF-SIMs.
• Understanding of electron transport physics and electrochemistry, ideally at nanoelectrodes.
• Strong data analysis and scripting experience is desirable.
• Experience working in the semiconductor industry or biotechnology is a plus.
• Must be a creative and detail-oriented person with excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to work seamlessly in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform characterization of devices using a wide range of metrology techniques including AFM, PiFM, SEM, and nanoelectronic measurements.
• Coordinate device characterization with vendors, collaborators, and fabrication partners using techniques like TOF-SIMS, XPS, TEM, FTIR.
• Prepare reports on pristine nanoelectronic devices as part of quality control processes.
• Prepare experimental summaries characterizing devices after experiments to provide feedback as part of test-learning cycles.
• Understand device requirements and propose characterization techniques to ensure specifications are met.
• Maintain detailed and meticulous records of all experimental work and analysis.
• Effectively communicate results, data analysis, and next steps with chip fabrication, device measurements, surface chemistry teams, and the wider company.
