Navy Region Southwest FFR is seeking a federal Food Service Cook to perform a full range of menu items and maintain cooking areas and equipment in clean, ordinary conditions.

The role involves preparing diverse items, following precise recipes, maintaining portion controls, and ensuring stock rotation and food safety. Candidates must meet federal employment requirements and be able to pass E-Verify.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of food preparation in small quantities and ability to apply information to cook a limited variety of prepared foods.
• Ability to read and understand written food service material such as food labels and recipes.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic for multiplying ingredients and servings.
• Knowledge of sanitation principles and kitchen safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a range of menu items requiring little processing, such as pancakes, eggs, burgers, vegetables.
• Prepare hot cereals, broil meats, make sauces and gravies, and create cold fillings.
• Prepare convenience items like frozen hash browns, fish fillets, and chicken nuggets; may bake pizza.
• Slice, dice, chop, and weigh ingredients to match recipes and serving sizes.
• Set up and replenish salad bar; ensure proper portion controls and inventory.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas; rotate stock to prevent spoilage.
• Assist with other related duties as required.
