Job Description:
Acton Elementary School is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Music Teacher to join our K–8
team. The ideal candidate will inspire students through a comprehensive and engaging music
education program that fosters creativity, musical skills, and an appreciation for the performing
arts. This position includes general music instruction across all grade levels and may involve
organizing concerts, chorus, or instrumental programs depending on student interest and
scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
? Plan and deliver music instruction to students in grades K–8, aligned with Maine
Learning Results and National Core Arts Standards.
? Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students are encouraged
to participate and grow musically.
? Integrate singing, movement, instruments, listening, and music literacy into instruction.
? Organize and direct school music performances and events (e.g., winter and spring
concerts).
? Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support school-wide learning goals and
special events.
? Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
? Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
? Participate in school-based meetings, professional development, and ongoing curriculum
planning.
Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field (required).
? Valid Maine teaching certification (endorsement 614: Music K–12 or eligibility for
certification).
? Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
? Passion for working with elementary and middle-grade students.
? Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
