A leading charter school in Malden seeks a K–8 Music Teacher to implement a comprehensive music program. K–8 Music Teacher
Position Summary:
This role involves teaching foundational music concepts, nurturing students’ artistic expression, and preparing them for performances through skill-building and creative exploration, with a specialization in string instruments.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement the music program for Kindergarten through Grade 8 according to the Core Knowledge curriculum
Develop and deliver engaging, goal-oriented lessons based on clear learning objectives
Regularly assess student progress and provide timely feedback via progress reports and report cards
Create a positive classroom environment by consistently applying MVRCS’s assertive discipline model
Collaborate regularly with colleagues in the Specials department and assigned Assistant Director
Participate in all staff meetings and professional development sessions
Assist with school-wide events and performances
Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education required
Previous experience in music instruction or conducting strings ensembles
Ability to work effectively with students of different ages and abilities
Strong classroom presence and organizational skills
Commitment to inspiring musical growth and performance readiness
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to evaluate student progress and determine appropriate instructional strategies
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, and families
Familiarity with state and federal educational laws and school policies
Must pass applicable MTELs within one year of employment
This is a full-time, annual appointment, subject to yearly evaluation
