Job summary

Confidential – Independent International Music Publisher, represented by Hyered, seeks a meticulous Financial Controller to join its New York finance team. You will oversee daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance across multiple entities, with broad exposure and clear paths to senior management.

The role favors candidates moving from private practice into industry or those with prior experience in music/media.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA preferred.
• 2–5 years of accounting or finance experience.
• Senior Accountant level or equivalent experience considered.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Experience in public/private practice with intent to move to industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze financial statements for multiple entities, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flows.
• Create consolidated trial balances in Excel for quarterly reporting.
• Collaborate with CFO on quarterly/year-end statements and cash flow.
• Prepare monthly flash reports using budgets, prior-year results and current month performance.
• Update flash reports to final consolidated operating statements.
• Analyze budget vs. actual performance and develop forecasts.
• Prepare annual budgets consolidating departmental/subsidiary budgets.
• Act as primary contact for auditors with schedules and explanations.
• Ensure internal controls and regulatory compliance.
• Manage and report on royalty payments and local tax filings.
• Identify process improvements to strengthen controls.
