Job summary

Millersville University is seeking a Student Worker - Music Peer Mentor in the Music Department for Academic Year 2026-2027. The position focuses on mentoring music students, with up to four mentors per degree area and responsibilities split between Fall and Spring terms.

Hours are 8am–4pm, Monday to Friday, with a starting pay rate of $9.50 per hour. Candidates must be a Music major and clearances are required. Class schedule coordination is emphasized for fitting academic commitments.

Qualifications

• Must be a Music major and able to mentor music students.
• Knowledge of musical terms and ability to teach fundamentals.
• Strong reading and writing music with critical thinking.
• Able to work independently and be self-driven.
• Punctual, dependable and trustworthy with college schedule.
• Performance experience with multiple instruments.
• Familiar with major and program requirements.

Responsibilities

• FALL RESPONSIBILITIES: follow syllabus, schedule meetings with first-year students, cover topics from a student perspective, provide one-on-one help.
• SPRING RESPONSIBILITIES: reinforce time management, practice resumes/cover letters, Solfege, registrations, provide one-on-one help.
• Working conditions: sit, use computer, lift up to 10lbs, walk as needed.
