Job summary

Millersville University is seeking student workers to tutor in the Music Department for the 2026-2027 academic year. Tutors will work with Music Education, Music Industry, and BA in Music majors, providing one-to-one instruction in composition, production, and instrument techniques.

Must be a music major and able to work independently. Typical hours align with 8am-4pm, Monday through Friday, within a starting rate of $10.00/hr.

Qualifications

• MUST be a music major
• Sufficient knowledge of musical terms to proficiently educate music students
• Enrolled in the Music Department as a Music Student Major
• Able to teach the fundamentals of the art of music
• Critical thinking skills associated with reading and writing music
• Must be able to work independently and self-driven
• Must be punctual, dependable and trustworthy
• Performance experience with a variety of instruments
• Knowledgeable of all majors, class requirements, and the program in general.
• Ability to mentor as a positive role model.
• Must complete 3 required clearances (PA Criminal Background, Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprints).

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one teaching experience in the areas of music composition, production, and instrumentation of musical instruments
• Show evidence of adapting and differentiated instruction for all students
