Job summary

The Lamar University Department of Music is seeking a Student Assistant to support the music faculty and staff with administrative duties, event help, and recital program creation. Beaumont, TX-based position within the university.

Ideal candidates are current music students with strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Some events may occur outside normal hours.

• Strong organizational and time management skills required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with administrative tasks (filing, phone/email handling, mail collection).
• Help execute department events (Collage, Friends of the Arts, etc.).
• Create recital programs in coordination with faculty and students.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

The Student Assistant will provide support to the department in various tasks, including but not limited to administrative duties, event assistance, recital program creation, and general help around the music building. The ideal candidate will be a current music student with excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, answering phone calls and emails, collect mail, etc.
• Help execute department events as needed (Collage, Friends of the Arts, etc.)
• Communicate with faculty and students to create recital programs
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

• Current music student in good academic standing

• Proficient in Microsoft Office

Physical Demands:

Work Environment:

The Student Assistant will primarily work in an office setting but may be asked to attend events outside of normal business hours.
