Music Instructor, Part-Time Adjunct

Salary: $67.00 Hourly

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

  • Provide instruction in a full range of music courses.
  • Teach at other campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, distance learning and using multiple teaching methodologies.
  • Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Visual and Performing Arts department.
  • Maintain subject matter currency.
  • Develop and revise curriculum.
  • Use computer and multimedia technology.
  • Participate collegially in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's in Music.
  • OR Bachelor's in Music AND Master's in Humanities.
  • OR possession of a valid credential authorizing full‑time teaching of Music at the California Community College level; or equivalent.
  • Knowledge that certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications; candidates must request equivalence.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning and service to a diverse student population.
  • Work with students across a wide range of skills, motivations, academic and vocational goals.
  • Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
  • Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges and universities.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain subject matter currency.
  • Assess student learning outcomes.
  • Know computers and be willing to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
  • Commit to the California community college mission.
