Qualifications

• Requires a high school degree.
• Two years prior customer service experience, preferably in museum visitor services or retail.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion as key strategies toward institutional excellence.
• Strong cross-cultural competence.
• Comfortable working with a diverse group of staff, donors, students and community members.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, diplomacy and tact in dealing with sensitive situations.
• Ability to exercise sound and mature judgment.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to remain alert at all times.
• Working knowledge of computers, and audio visual and sound equipment.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and orient all visitors following orientation policies.
• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise approximately twenty part-time student Gallery Attendants.
• Perform opening and closing procedures; monitor environmental readings and security risks.
• Sell museum merchandise, memberships, and event tickets; submit sales to Bursar’s Office.
• Implement safety and security procedures and coordinate with Campus Safety.
• Develop attendance tracking and prepare monthly/quarterly/annual reports.
• Assist with planning and executing museum-sponsored events and off-site events.
• Coordinate space rentals, ensure rental agreements and staffing.
• Develop visitor surveys and submit reports.
• Answer the main phone line and manage the email inbox.
