Job summary

National Geographic Society is seeking a Museum Technology Support Engineer to configure, secure, deploy, and support hardware and software for ticketing and POS systems. The role emphasizes uptime, security, and exceptional guest service in a dynamic museum environment.

The position requires collaborating with staff and vendors, supporting revenue-generating operations, and maintaining PCI‑DSS compliance, with shifts including evenings and weekends to align with museum operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required.
• Minimum of three years hands-on experience supporting enterprise-level ticketing, POS, hospitality, or similar systems.
• Experience in a museum, cultural institution, hospitality, or retail environment is preferred, with emphasis on revenue‑generating operations.

Responsibilities

• Proactively monitors ticketing and POS systems to maximize uptime.
• Provides hands-on technical support for ticketing, POS, and integrated systems.
• Responds to incidents including outages and disruptions to critical business system integrations.
• Maintains operational continuity during high-impact periods and events.
• Ensures PCI-DSS compliance for supported processes, hardware, and systems.
• Develops and maintains SOPs for standardizing support and maintenance.
