Job summary

Fallingwater, a property entrusted to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, is seeking a full-time Museum Store Floor Supervisor for the Fallingwater Museum Store. The position reports to the Director of Retail Operations and assists both the Director and the Assistant Manager in day-to-day operations of the Museum Store.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the front-end operations of the Museum Store.
• Work with store staff to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
• Prepare daily item replenishment reports and anticipate inventory needs.
• Maintain proper stock levels and notify leadership when levels are low.
• Complete spot inventory reports and assist with year-end counts.
• Provide the highest level of customer service and conduct sales transactions.
• Participate in meetings with DOR and Assistant Manager.

Fallingwater, a property entrusted to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy,designatedas a National HistoricLandmarkand inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is seekingafull-timeMuseum Store Floor Supervisorfor theFallingwaterMuseum Store.This positionreports to theDirector of Retail Operationsandassistsboth the Director and the AssistantManager in the day-to-day operations of the Museum Store.

Job Duties

• Assistsin supervising the front-end operations of the Museum Store.
• Worksalongside Museum Store associates andstaff, andensures that all functions and tasks are completed ina timelyand efficient manner.
• Preparesdaily item replenishmentreport, andanticipates inventory needs in advance.
• Maintainsproper stock levels of inventory in the store. Weekly,informsthe Director of Retail Operations (DOR) and Assistant Manager when levels are becoming low to allow expedient ordering.
• Properlystores inventory and acts to prevent damage.
• Completesspot inventory reports of store merchandise as assigned by DOR and Assistant Manager.
• Assistswith end of year inventory count.
• Activelyparticipatesin meetings with the DOR and Assistant Manager to discuss store related projects and issues.
• Providesthe highest level of customer service and sets the standard for store staff.Assistscustomers with purchases, as well asperformssales-transactions.
• Flexibilitywith schedule and hours is required due to circumstances as they occur. Schedule may be adjusted in advance, or with little to no notice to support operational needs such as staffing shortages, evening events, etc. This may include working earlier than scheduled or staying later thanscheduled, andworking evenings and weekends outside of the typical Museum Store hours and own standardschedule.
• EncouragesMuseum Store customers to become members of Fallingwater, and/or of the WPC.
• Maintainsthe presentation of the Museum Store as directed bymanagementteam, andensures that staff equally contributes to maintenance.Overseesstore’sappearance and cleanliness.
• Completessafety, theft, and damage reports as they occur. Reviews andsubmitsreports with security, and management team. Follows and enforces all safety and security policies and procedures.
• Assistsin completing daily closeout reports, item movement reports, etc. Trainsnew salesassociate on front-of-house store operations.
• Assistsin trainingnew staff, and provides workflow coordination,oversightand guidance for full-time,part-timeand seasonal staff.
• Completesopening and closing proceduresin accordance withestablished WPC policy.Reports all issues and discrepancies to the accounting managers and store managers.
• IncorporatesWPC’s constituent-focused customer service values in work habits and interaction with others.
• Supports the Conservancy’scostcontainment and fundraising efforts and needs, as applicable.
• Transportsmerchandise between Museum Store and storage areas,possibly inpersonalvehicle.
• Performsadditionalduties and responsibilities as needed, includingassistancewith online store inventory needs.
• Maintains and updates artists’ bios, product information guides, etc.
• Assistsandsupervises shipping /shipping quotes on in-store orders / purchases.
• Ensures that the Museum Store van hasgas, andis wellmaintained.
• Ensures that van log is completedaccurately, andnotes any discrepancies in travel and/ortime.
• Performsadditionalduties and responsibilities as requested.

Absolute Requirements

• Experience with Point-of-Sale systems and cash registers arerequired
• Mustpossessexceptional customer service and communication skills
• Must be a team player, andhave the ability towork well with others
• Mustpossessworking knowledge and ability to use computers, including the use MS Excel, MSWordand Point of Sale software
• Valid driver’s license isrequired
• Flexibility with schedule and hours and ability to work weekends and holidays isrequired
• Ability to meet all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

Qualifications

• Three years of retail sales experience.Museum store or gift shop experience preferred, but notrequired
