Job summary

The Milwaukee Art Museum is seeking a Security Officer to protect artwork, facilities and visitors. Under the Director of Campus Safety and Security, you will proactively patrol, monitor access controls, CCTV, and respond to incidents with professional discretion.

Requirements include a high school diploma (associates preferred), 1–3 years in protective security, excellent communication and customer service, ability to stand for long periods, and CPR/AED/First Aid certification trainings;

Qualifications

• High School graduate; Associates Degree preferred.
• 1–3 years in protective, safety, and/or security work.
• Demonstrated customer service skills and interaction with visitors.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Excellent written and oral communication; professional image.

Responsibilities

• Proactively patrols the main museum campus and provides security for galleries, spaces and artifacts.
• Regulates traffic and ensures safety during events; observes and reports incidents.
• Interact with visitors; answer questions and enforce rules professionally.
• Lead or assist in investigations; file incident reports.
• Act as first responder to fire and life safety incidents; administer first aid and CPR per training.
• Monitor department communications and surveillance; dispatch staff and coordinate with teams.
• Maintain knowledge of security system operations and department procedures.
