Job summary

Milwaukee Art Museum is seeking a Supervisor - Campus Safety & Security to protect artworks, ensure visitor and staff safety, and enforce museum policies across galleries, public spaces and facilities. Under the Director of Campus Safety & Security, you will implement security procedures and coordinate with staff during events.

Requirements include a High School diploma with Associates degree preferred, 1–3 years in protective/security roles, strong customer service, and ability to stand for

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; Associates degree preferred.
• 1–3 years security or protective work experience.
• Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor.
• Able to stand for extended periods and work varied shifts.
• Good written and oral communication; professional image.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in enforcing regulations.
• Experience monitoring alarm systems, CCTV, and card access.
• Maintain proficiency in security procedures and incident reporting.
• Calm in stressful situations; adapt to event-driven environment.
• Willingness to complete required training within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Proactively patrol the museum campus to observe and document incidents.
• Provide security for galleries, public spaces and facilities; manage traffic and events.
• Inform and assist visitors; enforce rules and coordinate with departments.
• Respond to alarms and incidents; determine action per training standards.
• Administer first aid and life safety when needed; assist emergency services.
• Lead investigations; file incident reports and maintain logs.
• Operate department software and security systems; ensure access control.
