Job summary

The Milwaukee Public Museum seeks a Public Safety Officer to join our security team. This full-time, rotating 40-hour schedule includes primarily first shift with occasional second or third shift coverage to maintain 24/7 operations.

Responsibilities include safeguarding collections, observing for irregularities, documenting reports, patrolling the building, and monitoring cameras while coordinating with multiple departments.

Qualifications

• Must be flexible to work varied schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; CPR/First Aid preferred.
• Strong customer service orientation and calm demeanor under pressure.
• Ability to observe, document, and report clearly and promptly.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard museum collections and protect staff and visitors.
• Observe and document irregularities in reports using all five senses.
• Patrol the 400,000+ square foot building on foot.
• Monitor 200 cameras and support multiple departments via radio.

Job Location: Milwaukee Public Museum - Milwaukee, WI 53233

Salary Range: $18.00 Hourly

Milwaukee Public Museum is looking for one (1) Public Safety Officer to work a full time, rotating, 40-hour work week. In this role you will primarily be on 1st shift, and we estimate between 10-20%, or 3-5 days of the month, will be spent covering either 2nd or 3rd shift. The Museum requires the Security Department to be manned on a 24 hour, 365 days per year basis.

In this role you will:

• Safeguard museum collections and ensure the well-being of museum employees and visitors.
• Use all 5 senses to make observations of irregularities and document them in written reports.
• Patrol, on foot, the over 400,000 square foot building.
• Monitor 200 cameras in the dispatch office and serve as a resource for multiple departments via radio communication.

Qualifications that are preferred, but not required:

• 1 year previous security experience.
• Prior DAAT training or similar de-escalation and self-defense training.
• CPR, AED, and/or First Aid certification.
• Prior experience with Access Control systems like C-Cure or similar systems.
