Job summary

Museum of Fine Arts, Boston is seeking a Security Specialist to monitor the campus and surrounding areas, including exterior perimeter and offsite properties. You will respond to incidents, guide visitors and staff, and mentor security officers while maintaining confidential information and following SOPs.

The role requires handling multiple tasks under pressure, coordinating with local authorities, and using Windows/Linux systems and CAD software to document and analyze security events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, or related discipline or technical degree preferred or equivalent combination of experience & education.
• Experience in museum or other type of cultural institution, call center, network operations center, security/police, emergency or medical environment.
• Experience with radio communication, and / or alarm monitoring operation, access control, computer aided dispatch.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage security systems, including surveillance cameras and access control, to deter and respond to incidents.
• Operate command center equipment and follow standard operating procedures.
• Maintain an up-to-date daily event log of service requests, breaches, emergencies and access events.
• Coordinate and manage emergency calls and responses, guiding visitors, staff and volunteers.
