Job summary

The Cleveland Museum of Art is hiring a Night Watch Person for the second shift to safeguard the collection and premises. The role involves monitoring entries with metal detectors, patrolling the galleries, and ensuring cases and doors remain secure while reporting irregularities.

Qualified applicants have a high school diploma or GED and a solid security background; Ohio Private Police Commission certification is preferred, with CPR/first-aid training helpful for emergency response.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; strong security background is required.
• 205 hour State of Ohio Private Police Commission preferred.
• College coursework helpful; prior first-aid and CPR training.
• Frequently required to stand 8–12 hours per day; may lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Monitor visitors, staff, vendors, volunteers, and contractors through metal detectors.
• Make routine rounds of the building and report unusual occurrences.
• Inspect display cases to ensure they are secured and untampered.
• Observe for damage, housekeeping issues, fire hazards, leaks, and security doors.
• Check temperature and humidity levels as directed by facilities and conservation.
• Guard against theft by monitoring departures and requiring door passes.
• Respond to alarms promptly and handle emergencies in the building.
