Job summary

Florida International University in Miami is seeking a dedicated Membership Manager to drive growth and retention for the Frost Art Museum. You will oversee all membership activities, craft strategies to convert visitors to members, and deliver excellent service to supporters.

The role collaborates with Marketing, Development, and Visitor Services to promote memberships, manage donor relations, and report on campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience.
  • Experience in an organization's individual Membership program, preferably within a non-profit environment.
  • Experience in cultural organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Implements best strategies in stewardship, renewal and upgrading of current members; acquiring new members and visitor conversion; increasing annual fund gifts from members.
  • Works with Finance Manager to prepare and monitor membership revenue and expense budgets.
  • Can direct the work of volunteers and student assistants as assigned.
  • Serves as a merchant account user. Handles sensitive cardholder information and/or processes credit cards transactions for the department/unit. Handles cash transactions.
  • Serves as primary representative of Membership program on a daily basis, and at all Membership events, including exhibition openings, museum programs, and members-only events.
  • Develops and directs strategies driving integrated mail, on-line and telephone campaigns to acquire, upgrade, and renew members and donors. Maintains schedule of solicitations and cultivations, including timely delivery of strategy, creative, and data files.
  • Oversees and implements annual Benefactor Impact membership event.
  • Generates reports for Director of Operations and Finance Manager to measure results of membership campaigns, and overall membership retention and growth. Monitors progress towards revenue goal.
  • Develops, promotes, and documents best practices and policies associated with member, donor, and prospect management. Maintains security, accuracy, and integrity of database.
  • Maintains accurate records on donors, implements fulfillment (membership acknowledgements and member cards).
  • Partners with Marketing & Communications and Visitor Services to implement promotions, partnerships, and communications that promote membership experience and enhance visitor conversion. Works with the Marketing & Communications team to create membership collateral, to support the museum's online presence for members via social media (from the membership perspective), and to update Membership pages on museum website. Enhances giving opportunities through online platforms, such as social media, website, and e-communications.
  • Oversees the museum's point-of-sale, merchandise, and membership management system, including the coordination, entry, and maintenance of information related to memberships, events, programs, merchandise, inventory, and retail operations. Ensures system records are accurate and current, supports departmental use of the platform, and assists with reporting and operational needs associated with membership, programming, and sales activities.
  • Collaborates with Development Officer to identify and upgrade members to higher levels of membership and annual giving.
  • Mature judgement, discretion and professionalism in researching and communicating information. Proven track record or thriving in a data-driven environment. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems required. Experience with raiser's edge strongly preferred.
