Job summary

The Magic House, St. Louis Children's Museum is hiring a part-time Museum Guide to be the frontline ambassador, delivering friendly service and helping make visits safe and playful for families.

You will engage guests in exhibits, answer questions, supervise volunteers, and support opening/closing procedures as well as basic safety protocols. Availability on at least one weekend day and occasional evenings is expected.

• Prior experience working with children.
• At least 16 years of age.

• Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills: helpful, friendly, and patient attitude.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member, as well as independently.
• Strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage our guests in exhibit areas, answering questions, and taking an active role in providing an outstanding experience.
• Act as customer relations liaison with visitors maintaining brand excellence in all areas of the Museum.
• Take corrective actions to ensure exhibit needs and facility issues are addressed quickly and report unresolved issues to Museum Manager.
• Know and execute emergency procedures, including lost children, fire and tornado.
• Monitor exhibits on an ongoing basis for safety and cleanliness, including resetting exhibit areas and report issues to Museum Manager.
• Supervise volunteers within exhibit areas.
• Follow opening and closing procedures for public hours, events and programs.
• Be familiar with basic knowledge of the Museum including current operating hours and event information.
• Participate in trainings as required by the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
