Job summary

Discovery Cube of Orange County is seeking an experienced Facilities Shift Lead to guide custodial staff, oversee daily cleaning, and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for guests and staff across the museum.

You will coordinate tasks, perform walkthroughs, support events, monitor supplies, and work with Facilities, Exhibits, and Operations teams to keep exhibits and spaces in top condition.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 2-3 years custodial or janitorial experience.
• Prior experience leading a team preferred.
• Proficient use of cleaning materials, methods and equipment.
• Understanding of hazards, accident prevention and safety practices for janitorial work.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high cleanliness standards.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Friendly demeanor and ability to interact with adults and children of all ages.
• Must be proactive, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lead by example and work with a diverse team.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead Facilities team during assigned shifts and provide direction to custodial staff.
• Conduct walkthroughs of exhibit floors, restrooms and dining/picnic areas and adjust workflows.
• Assign and prioritize daily cleaning tasks based on needs and guest traffic.
• Ensure custodial standards and safety protocols are followed.
• Monitor team performance and provide coaching and support.
• Communicate updates and facility concerns to Facilities management.
• Maintain daily cleanliness in all spaces including exhibit floors and restrooms.
• Perform daily cleaning tasks and replenish supplies as needed.
• Assist with setup/breakdown of events and programs.
• Respond to spills or emergencies; support exhibit area cleanliness.
