Job summary

Wake Forest University’s Reynolda House Museum of American Art is seeking an Event and Program Assistant to support the execution of events and programs that reflect the brand and provide guests with transformative experiences. You will set up and break down events, manage behind-the-scenes logistics, and provide audiovisual support.

The role requires an associate degree and at least three years of experience, strong organization and communication skills, and the ability to work flexible hours,

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree and at least three years of experience, or an equivalent combination.
  • Ability to organize priorities.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work as a team member, and independently.
  • Knowledge of set-up, operation, and maintenance of audiovisual equipment in a museum environment.
  • Proficiency in computer use including Microsoft Office, Google suite, and other relevant software.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including after hours and/or weekends, as specified by supervisor.
  • Knowledge of basic alcoholic beverage service and storage and/or ability to learn safe and appropriate practices quickly and effectively.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements of the University's automobile insurance policy.
  • Physical Requirements: Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up for events and programs including tables, chairs, AV equipment, decorations.
  • Attends programs/events to manage behind-the-scenes logistics and provides AV support.
  • Pours beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages during events; rearranges furniture as needed.
  • Stores equipment and materials properly.
  • Picks up, returns, and folds linens from Facilities.
  • Breaks down events in a timely manner.
  • Keeps records of alcohol consumption.
  • Shops for drinks, food, and supplies for museum.
  • Interacts with donors, members, families, and visitors.
  • Maintains professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
