Wake Forest University at Reynolda is seeking a part-time Studio Art instructor to plan and facilitate no-fail lessons for K‑12 students and adults, 6‑10 hours weekly across ~32 weeks. Teaching occurs on-site with some remote planning, and duties include data input and contract sharing for group tours.

The ideal candidate holds a visual arts education degree or equivalent experience, with strong communication skills and comfort working with diverse groups, including those with disabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years relevant work experience.
  • Experience teaching art with primary school-age children (2+ years).
  • Expertise in various art-making techniques and instruction.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage groups.
  • Competency with Microsoft Word, Google Mail and PC-based computing.
  • Attention to detail in written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches 30-minute art activities to K-12 students and adults.
  • Lessons may repeat within a group’s visit to accommodate everyone.
  • Available 1-4 mornings per week for tours; occasional afternoons.
  • Prepares materials, sets up and cleans up, coordinates return of art to group.
  • Maintains order of materials and cleanliness in classroom.
  • Plans activities with Director of Teaching and Learning; coordinates with Manager of Community and Academic Learning.
  • Engages students of various abilities; inspires creativity and belonging.
  • Assists with administrative tour bookings, inputting data and creating contracts.
  • Tracks contracts and payments from groups; supervises volunteers in the classroom.
