Job summary

The George W. Bush Presidential Museum seeks a Manager of Museum Education to lead the development of innovative educational programs for K-12 educators and align resources with academic standards.

Reporting to the Director, you will drive teacher engagement, curriculum development, and partnerships with schools and museums. The role combines program design, budget oversight, and strategic planning to sustain education initiatives and expand the Center’s influence in civics and American history

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Education, History, Curriculum Design, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience designing professional development and instructional content for K-12 teachers, with a focus on arts integration.
  • Knowledge of curriculum standards, interdisciplinary teaching strategies, and professional learning design.
  • Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teacher Program Development: Oversee the creation and implementation of education-focused projects, teacher professional development opportunities, curriculum initiatives, events, presentations, and professional learning communities that foster meaningful connections between educators and the museum’s collections and exhibitions and the broader Bush Center.
  • Curriculum Resource Creation: Develop, write, and package high-quality, standards-based resources that are practical, engaging, adaptable, and TEKS aligned for classroom use.
  • Volunteer Training Resources: Develop, write, and package high-quality, resources that are practical, engaging, and adaptable for use in training new and existing museum volunteers.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure resources are aligned with exhibitions, collections, and gallery experiences.
  • School Engagement: Facilitate field trips, customize teacher resources, deliver professional development tailored to partner needs, and ensure programs reflect best practices in civics and history education.
