Job summary

The National WWII Museum is seeking an Assistant Director of Teacher Programs to lead educator professional development and curriculum initiatives. You will manage a team delivering standards-aligned content across social studies and other disciplines, expanding programs onsite, offsite, and online for educators nationwide.

Qualifications

  • Manage a team of educators responsible for program planning and execution.
  • Develop and execute strategy for classroom curriculum and educator professional development.
  • Lead curriculum design and delivery of teacher PD programs.
  • Administer onsite professional development initiatives and workshops.
  • Define K-12 education priorities with leadership to ensure quality and accessibility.
  • Expand teacher initiatives through strong program design, documentation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate to plan calendar supporting growth, funding, promotion, and staff coordination.
  • Support staff development and leadership opportunities within the department.
  • Develop funding proposals with Institutional Advancement.
  • Provide planning and logistical support for board meetings.
  • Participate in task forces and committees as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of educators who work with teachers and support the successful planning and execution of projects, programs, and initiatives.
  • Develop and execute a strategy for classroom curriculum and content creation, as well as related educator professional development.
  • Lead the team in curriculum design and the presentation of teacher professional development programs.
  • Serve as the lead administrator for the Museum’s onsite professional development initiatives, including but not limited to annual intensive summer professional learning programs, one-day workshops, and onsite teacher events.
  • Work with the Director of Teaching and Learning and the Associate Vice President of Education to define and refine K-12 education strategic priorities, and to ensure the quality, accessibility, and distribution of the Museum’s K-12 curriculum and content.
  • Work with the team to expand and refine teacher initiatives through strong program design, documentation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the team to establish a planning calendar that supports program growth, funding, promotion, and staff coordination.
  • Support staff development by delegating responsibilities effectively, evaluating performance, encouraging professional growth, and creating opportunities for leadership and collaboration within the department and across the Museum.
  • Partner with the Institutional Advancement Department to develop funding proposals for teacher initiatives and classroom content.
  • Assist the Education Department and the President’s Office with planning and logistical support for meetings of the Board Education & Access Committee, Board Executive Committee, and Board of Trustees.
  • Participate in assigned task forces, staff committees, projects, assignments, and related duties as directed by the Director of Teaching and Learning or the Associate Vice President of Education.
