Job summary

The Walker Art Center seeks a Building Maintenance Technician to operate, troubleshoot, and repair the center’s building systems. You will ensure climate control, system reliability, and compliance with safety standards in a dynamic museum environment.

You will work with the facilities team, perform preventive maintenance, and support with vendor coordination and emergency response as needed. This is a full-time, on-site role in Minneapolis.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and building automation systems in commercial or institutional facilities.
• Reading plans, schematics, manuals, control sequences, and work orders; document readings and follow-up needs.
• Minnesota boiler operator license level and valid driver’s license as established by Walker and law.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and optimize HVAC, BAS/EMS, boilers, chillers, pumps, and related building equipment.
• Review alarms, trends, logs, and conditions; communicate risks and follow-up needs to Manager.
• Lead preventive maintenance and repairs; document inspections and parts in the work-order system.
