Job summary

Museum of Fine Arts, Houston seeks an Associate Preparator to ensure professional, safe, and timely preparation, care and handling of works for display, exhibition and transport. You will install, deinstall, pack, and move artworks across MFAH sites, including gallery maintenance and courier work for external institutions.

Candidate must have 5+ years of art handling experience, knowledge of packing and installation methods for various media, and a degree or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of art handling experience required.
• Knowledge of collection care, exhibition and display practices.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Handle, install, pack, and unpack artwork across MFAH locations.
• Install/deinstall artworks for temporary exhibitions and rotations.
• Transport artwork between campus buildings using museum trucks.
