Job summary

RK&K's Water/Wastewater Group in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Municipal Wastewater Treatment Design Project Engineer to lead evaluation and planning, design and construction phase engineering on a variety of municipal wastewater projects.

The role involves designing upgrades, preparing calculations and drawings, reviewing contract documents, mentoring staff, and coordinating with owners, designers and contractors to meet quality, schedule and budget goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.
• 5–10 years of experience with multi-disciplined teams designing wastewater treatment unit processes.
• Ability to perform hydraulic, mass balance, tank sizing and related wastewater calculations.
• Experience completing contract documents for wastewater projects.
• Strong self-motivation and ability to deliver projects on time and on budget.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.
• Demonstrated interest in wastewater process design and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Complete designs for upgrades and expansions to municipal wastewater facilities.
• Prepare design calculations, PFDs, process diagrams and cost estimates.
• Evaluate unit processes and equipment for planning and design of wastewater systems.
• Prepare and review technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specs and contract docs.
• Collaborate with owner, designer, project engineers and contractors.
• Exceed client expectations on quality, schedule and budget.
• Lead meetings and workshops, incorporating client feedback into designs.
• Demonstrate QA/QC and adherence to contract specifications.
• Mentor staff and support professional growth.
