Job summary

RK&K's Water/Wastewater Group in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Municipal Wastewater Treatment Design Project Engineer to lead evaluation and planning, design and construction phase engineering on a variety of municipal wastewater projects.

The role involves designing upgrades, preparing calculations and drawings, reviewing contract documents, mentoring staff, and coordinating with owners, designers and contractors to meet quality, schedule and budget goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program.
• 5–10 years of experience with multi-disciplined teams designing wastewater treatment unit processes.
• Ability to perform hydraulic, mass balance, tank sizing and related wastewater calculations.
• Experience completing contract documents for wastewater projects.
• Strong self-motivation and ability to deliver projects on time and on budget.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.
• Demonstrated interest in wastewater process design and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

Job description

RK&K's experienced, growing Water/Wastewater Group, within one of the nation's top consulting firms, is seeking to hire a Municipal Wastewater Treatment Design Project Engineer to work from our Baltimore, MD office. In this role, you will work closely with team members to lead evaluation and planning, design and construction phase engineering administration services on a variety of wastewater projects.

Essential Functions

• Complete designs for upgrades and expansions to municipal wastewater treatment facilities
• Prepare design calculations, process flow diagrams and costs estimates for wastewater projects
• Conduct technical evaluations of various unit processes and equipment to support planning and design related to wastewater systems
• Preparation and review of technical memoranda, engineering reports, presentations, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents
• Work directly with the owner, designer, project engineers and contractors.
• Exceed client expectations for quality, schedule and budget
• Facilitate internal and client meetings, workshops and incorporate client feedback into design documents
• Demonstrate thorough understanding of QA/QC development and execution process
• Demonstrate thorough understanding of contract specifications, standards, etc.
• Mentor staff by training employees and supporting personal growth opportunities

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
• Five to ten years of demonstrated experience working with a multi-disciplined engineering team to develop construction plans and specifications for unit processes in liquid and solids wastewater treatment
• Demonstrated ability to perform hydraulic, mass balance, tank sizing and other wastewater calculations.
• Demonstrated ability to complete contract documents for wastewater projects.
• Self-motivated, able to successfully deliver projects on time and on budget
• Ability to deliver on multiple tasks with competing priorities
• Strong interest in wastewater treatment process design
• Passion for quality work and client service

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Professional Engineer registration
• Experience working with municipalities in the Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and Pennsylvania regions

Salary range: $48.00-$60.00 per hour
