Job summary

The City of Memphis is seeking a maintenance worker to operate a range of trucks and equipment, load and unload materials, and support turf, landscaping, and grounds maintenance. The role includes routine equipment care and potential asphalt work on trails, parking lots, and roadways.

Work is outdoors, with possible weekend shifts. A valid Class B CDL and ability to follow DOT rules are required; residency within Shelby County may apply in accordance with city policy.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, and understand written and verbal instructions.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class B Tennessee CDL and comply with DOT rules.
• Working experience operating and driving a variety of trucks preferred.
• May complete tests to evaluate competencies in operating related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates and drives trucks and equipment listed in the job scope.
• Loads and unloads materials, tools, and equipment onto trucks.
• May plant, trim, and spray bedding plants, trees, and shrubs.
• Performs routine maintenance such as fueling, lubricating, and cleaning equipment.
• May lay asphalt on walking trails, parking lots, and roadways.
• Majority of work is outdoors with weekend shifts sometimes required.
