Job summary

City of Springfield, TN is seeking a diligent street and sanitation worker to perform a variety of manual labor tasks related to city streets, sidewalks, drainage, and landscaping. You will operate basic equipment, provide traffic control, and help keep public spaces clean and safe.

The role requires a valid Tennessee Class D license, ability to pass a drug screen and physical, and the stamina for extended manual labor in outdoor conditions. Competitive pay and benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with some manual work experience.
• Must possess a valid Class D driver license issued by the State of Tennessee.
• Must pass a drug screen and a physical examination per the city’s requirements.

Responsibilities

• Construct and maintain city streets with asphalt and gravel.
• Maintain concrete projects including sidewalks and the greenway.
• Install, dig, and clean drainage ditches and storm drains.
• Assist with landscaping tasks including mowing, spraying, watering, trimming, and planting.
• Install and repair city signs and paint pavement markings.
• Perform traffic control for construction or maintenance projects.
• Collect litter and manage refuse containers and related duties.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies and perform other duties as required.
