Job summary

The City of New Ulm is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform skilled and semi-skilled work in street, infrastructure, facilities, grounds, and equipment maintenance. You will support street and utility maintenance, stormwater and sewer systems, snow removal, cemetery operations, and equipment upkeep.

Responsibilities include maintaining roads, repairing pavements, preserving storm and sanitary systems, installing signs, maintaining grounds, winter operations, and basic carpentry and masonry

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum three years of experience in construction trades, including asphalt, concrete, carpentry, or similar activities.
• Valid Class A CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements to be obtained within six months of hire.
• Subject to federal CDL drug and alcohol testing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance on streets, alleys, and other surfaces.
• Repair, patch, and maintain asphalt, concrete, and gravel surfaces.
• Maintain stormwater and sanitary sewer systems and related structures.
• Install and maintain street signs and traffic control devices.
• Maintain trees, landscapes, and grounds; perform mowing and upkeep.
• Winter maintenance: plowing, salting, sanding; emergency response as needed.
• Operate and perform basic maintenance on City vehicles and equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE; participate in required training.
