Job summary

CBS² is seeking a Municipal Project Engineer to support and manage civil and municipal projects for Wisconsin communities. This full-time role blends hands-on design oversight with project management responsibilities, including client coordination and budgeting.

The position offers growth toward project management while collaborating with engineers, GIS staff, municipalities, and contractors to deliver quality, community-focused solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of civil, municipal, utility, stormwater, or related infrastructure design experience.
• Professional Engineer license, or ability to obtain.
• Experience supporting or leading municipal engineering projects through design and project delivery.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or strong ability to review Civil 3D-based design work.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Understanding of municipal infrastructure design, permitting, documents, and regulatory coordination.
• Ability to coordinate with clients, municipalities, internal teams, agencies, and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Manage or support municipal and civil projects, including scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, and client expectations.
• Lead or assist with project planning, design coordination, permitting, bidding, and construction-phase support.
• Provide technical oversight for streets, utilities, stormwater, sanitary sewer, water main, drainage, and related civil improvements.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, GIS staff, clients, municipalities, agencies, and contractors.
• Review plans, specifications, reports, cost estimates, calculations, exhibits, and construction documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Utilize or review AutoCAD Civil 3D design work to support project delivery.
• Support stormwater, drainage, utility, and regulatory compliance efforts for assigned projects.
• Assist with client communication, project meetings, council or committee meetings, and ongoing municipal relationship management.
• Track project budgets, schedules, progress, and deliverables; communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Support proposal development, marketing efforts, and client relationship building as needed.
• Participate in site visits, field reviews, construction coordination, and occasional travel.
• Support business development for Municipal Engineering opportunities.
