Job summary

The City of Tracy is seeking an enthusiastic planning professional to join the Community & Economic Development Department as an Assistant/Associate Planner. The candidate will review development proposals, apply CEQA guidelines, coordinate across City departments, and prepare staff reports for decision-makers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning, community development, business or public administration, or related field.
• 1 year of professional planning experience for Assistant Planner; 3 years for Associate Planner, or two years equivalent to Assistant Planner.
• Ability to prepare clear staff reports, advise applicants, and communicate with the public and city staff.

Responsibilities

• Review routine to complex development proposals for zoning clearance and CEQA compliance.
• Coordinate with Building, Engineering, and Code Compliance and other agencies.
• Prepare staff reports, background analyses, and monitoring of project implementation to ensure conformance with approvals.
• Serve as project manager on planning and development projects, including notices, research, coordinating meetings, and reporting.
