Job summary

City of Los Angeles is seeking a City Planning Associate to perform professional work in long-range and policy planning across citywide, community, and neighborhood scopes. The role also includes project planning, reviewing land use proposals, development projects, and site plans.

Qualifications include a four-year degree with four years of planning experience or a degree plus two years of experience, with substitutions for graduate study. A valid CA driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with four years of professional planning experience in long-range and/or current urban planning.
  • Graduation with a major in urban planning, urban studies, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, geography or related field and two years of professional planning experience.
  • Two years of professional planning experience as a Planning Assistant with the City of Los Angeles.
  • Graduate study in urban planning or related field may substitute for up to one year of required experience.
  • A valid Class C driver's license issued by the California DMV is required at appointment.

Responsibilities

  • A City Planning Associate does professional city planning work in long-range and policy planning, including citywide, community, and neighborhood planning; and project planning, including review, research, assessment, and clearance of land use proposals, development projects, and site plans.
