Job summary

McKenna in the Greater Detroit Area seeks a dedicated Permit Technician to join a municipal building department. You will be on the front line for customer service, processing and maintaining permits, plans and related documents.

This is a full-time, on-site role working with building staff to ensure compliant and efficient permit issuance. The ideal candidate has strong MS Office skills and familiarity with BS&A software, plus experience in a public-facing setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of customer service and administrative experience involving public contact; municipal setting preferred.
• Excellent customer service, administrative, multitasking and organizational skills are essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; BS&A software experience is a plus and training is possible.
• Ability to work 100% onsite in a Greater Detroit municipality office.

Responsibilities

• Review, accept, distribute, process, document and maintain departmental information and permits.
• Provide front-line customer service and support to Building Department staff and related departments.
• Issue permits, answer inquiries, and maintain files and records.
• Support plans, inspections and code enforcement activities as needed.
