The role requires at least five years of municipal law experience, Michigan bar admission, and the ability to advise on contracts, real property, zoning, FOIA, and Open Meetings Act compliance. The City Attorney will supervise staff, attend meetings, review ordinances, and represent the city in court,

Competenze

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active license to practice in Michigan.
• 5+ years of municipal law experience, including knowledge of Open Meetings Act and FOIA.

Mansioni

• Provide verbal and written advice to the City Commission, City Manager, department heads, and boards on legal matters including FOIA and OMA.
• Review and draft City resolutions, policies, and procedures; attend meetings and render legal advice as required.
• Counsel the City Manager and department heads; review policy and strategic issues and help develop solutions.
• Draft and negotiate contracts, RFPs, leases, grant proposals, and related documents; manage real property matters.
• Represent the City in civil proceedings and in FOIA litigation; coordinate with insurers and defense counsel; supervise or assist colleagues as needed.
• Oversee or represent the City in employment matters, workers' compensation, and civil rights claims; prosecute ordinance violations.
