Job summary

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) in Wall Township, NJ seeks a Project Engineer to join our Municipal Services Department at headquarters. The role focuses on municipal infrastructure projects from planning through construction, with increasing technical and project responsibility and a path to leadership.

The ideal candidate will have a Civil Engineering degree, 4–8 years of municipal experience, a PE license, and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 4-8 years of relevant experience in municipal engineering or public infrastructure projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong understanding of municipal design standards and permitting processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning, design, and execution of municipal infrastructure projects, including roadway improvements, drainage systems, water distribution, sanitary sewer systems, and capital improvement programs.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, reports, and construction documents in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Develop plans, profiles, and details using design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, and other disciplines to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Interface with municipal clients, regulatory agencies, and utility providers to support project approvals and permitting efforts.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submittals during the construction phase.
• Provide construction support services, including responding to field inquiries and performing site visits as needed.
• Participate in client meetings, public presentations, and coordination meetings.
• Assist with the preparation of cost estimates, schedules, and project budgets.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and agency requirements.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
