Job summary

The City of Yuma is accepting applications for a General Maintenance Worker within the Parks & Recreation Department. The role involves cleaning, maintenance, and repair of municipal buildings, facilities, grounds, streets, and parks.

Under supervision, you will perform general labor tasks and support safety regulations while working with City departments and public interactions. A valid driver’s license and ability to operate basic tools are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Some experience in general maintenance work is preferred.
• Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Skill in using basic tools safely.
• Skill in following verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assists with cleaning, maintenance and repair of municipal buildings, facilities, grounds, streets and parks.
• Performs duties following safety rules and reports hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations.
• Learns general maintenance methods and operation of tools and equipment.
• Supports the relationship between the City of Yuma and the public with courteous and cooperative interactions.
• Maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required.
