Job summary

City of Baltimore is seeking an Automotive Mechanic for the Department of General Services. This role performs diagnostic, installation, maintenance and repair work on automotive equipment in a repair shop environment.

Requires high school diploma or GED, 4 years of experience, and valid Maryland Class C driver’s license. The position offers a starting annual salary of $51,831 with opportunities to earn up to $84,478 based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: 4 years in maintenance and repair of automotive/mechanical equipment.
• Equivalency substitutions: 6 months per year of HS/GED; college coursework; ASE apprenticeship substitution.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic, installation, maintenance and repair work on automotive and mechanical equipment.
• Work under moderate supervision in an automotive repair shop.
• Maintain records and read service manuals, part catalogs and schematics.
